Around 100 books for children who are learning to love reading, roughly ages 5 to 12. The illustrated series that actually get finished: Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man (including the 13-book box set), Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid and its Do-It-Yourself Book, Roald Dahl’s The Magic Finger, and friendship and social-skills books written for this age rather than about it. Heavily illustrated, short chapters, and built for reluctant readers as much as for the ones who finish a book in a weekend.
