A stranger arrives at a village inn in the depth of winter, wrapped head to foot in bandages and refusing to explain himself. He is Griffin, a scientist who has worked out how to make a living body invisible and has used the method on himself without first working out how to reverse it.

What begins as an inconvenience becomes isolation, then theft, then terror, as Griffin discovers that a man nobody can see is also a man nobody can stop.
